Champ (not really)

Today was the beginning of a New, Early Rising, Physically Fit, Goal Accomplishing Me. I wanted to get up at 5 but I went to bed around midnight so I set my alarm for 7:30.  After cozying tighter under my covers for ten minutes after it went off and deliberating whether to actually do it or not, I dragged my lazy-bum self out of bed and went for a run in Rexburg's 15 degree air. It only lasted about ten minutes. Honestly, I could really only handle running around the block. The cold, cold, COLD air just about killed my lungs. However, I was proud of myself because I really did not want to step a foot outside my door, largely due to the fact that I looked NOT like this:

but more like this:

Awesome. I know. and I can guarantee that I was seen by no less than 100 people (okay maybe not 100, but it felt like it!). 7:30am is NOT the time to go for a run on the streets of this college town if you don't want to be seen, especially not the street I live on. But I was determined; it had to be done.
Tomorrow I am getting up at 5am. Maybe I'll walk to the gym and run on a treadmill. Or maybe I'll just do jumping jacks in my living room...

Sick Day

I am sick and out of it for ONE day and this is what I get for it. Luckily, I have a fantastic husband who helps with things like this. Today was a better day, but only because there isn't much that could be worse than yesterday;) I'm sure that tomorrow I'll be back to my normal self.

Being sick makes you realize how wonderful it is to feel good. If we never felt miserable, we'd never know what feeling awesome was like! Isn't it nice that we can have little reminders to help us better appreciate our everyday blessings;)

Yesterday

I took these pictures during "Dora" time yesterday. If you can't tell, we are avid Dora the Explorer fans:)

On the episode we watched yesterday, Dora and her friends would sing, "Rain, rain, go away! Come again some other day!". Kaylee got super into it and sang and clapped her hands enthusiastically every time. I love when my girls do stuff like that:)

I made whole wheat applesauce muffins that ended up looking like whole wheat applesauce donuts.  I HAVE to remember that crumble topping NEVER works when I try it.  Fortunately, they were sooooo tasty that it didn't matter how ugly they were.

And lastly, these lovely flowers have graced our home for the last couple of days. I just HAD to take a picture;)

Overheard

As Kaylee knocks over Lily's blocks:

Lily: "Kaylee! Look what you have done!"

Kaylee: "Are you proud of me?"

Lily: "No, I'm not! I'm mad at you."

Kaylee: "I'm sorry. Do you forgive me?"

                "Do you forgive me, Lil?"

              "Do you forgive me yet?"

Poor Kaylee is still waiting for her forgiveness from Lily. We are working on being repentant and forgiving in our home;)

I love when this happens...

She had been taking a nap on the couch. When she woke up and realized I was no longer there, she came to where I was sitting at the table and resumed her nap:)

Some Photos

On Saturday I got to take pictures for my friend Sarah. I had never done family portraits before and I was nervous and short on ideas(to the extreme). Luckily, they were forgiving:) I think we got some pretty cute ones. Here are my favorites.

Happy Birthday to Zach

For those of you who don't have the pleasure of knowing my darling brother let me tell you a little bit about him. Zachary Randall is my younger brother (1 year, 6 months, and 26 days to be exact) He was my first sibling and how grateful I am that he entered my life! Zach is a lover of nature, rocks, and Irish accents. His talents include backflip (on hard flat ground!), jumping off stuff, skateboarding, playing the guitar, and melodic vocals. He speaks spanish and is fluent in the pirate dialect. Happy Birthday Dear Brother!!!

a MOVIE (super short, but super cute)

I finally decided to put iMovie to use on my new Mac (thanks Mom! I LOVE my computer!!:)). I've never ever made any kind of video; this is my first one ever, and while its not the coolest, its the coolest I can do for now. Plus, my kids are cute no matter how great the video is.

I guess I should probably mention that the first few clips are of Kaylee speaking in her finest English accent. She does not have a speech impediment.

In other news, I have gone 48 hours without nursing Riley. This is the first time in over 5 years that I've had my body completely to myself. Weird! Now I just need to get her potty trained;)

Other than that I don't have much to report. I need to go to bed because I am babysitting beginning at 6:15am. Yikes!

She makes my heart sing

She was concerned because she didn't want me to take a lot of pictures of her in her headband. She was too busy playing.

"Not a lot, mom. Not a lot of pictures"

Lily's

Riley's (with a little help)

Kaylee's

I'm pretty sure that when we do stuff like this I have more fun than the girls do. I definitely outlast them. This was a cornstarch recipe. We try a new one every time, but I still haven't found my favorite. When I find the perfect recipe, I will share it:)

We are not snow people

Exactly 10 minutes later...

The girls have been begging to go sledding so we got them all bundled up and took them to our sled spot. Lily and Kaylee went down twice before the tears started. Riley was not excited about sledding down the little hill at all so I took her down on the little disc sled and she. hated. it. All three of them were screaming and crying about their cold fingers, noses, and cheeks as we loaded them in the car precisely ten minutes after we parked it. Michael thought they were acting like babies. I thought it was hilarious.
